【摘要】:Thistestmethodestablishestherequirementsforastandardizedmethodofevaluatingtheperformanceofcrimped-typeelectricalconnectionshavingsolidorstrandedconductors.Inordertoachieveasuccessfulcrimpedconnection,thecrimpingtoolmustdeformthematerialofthecrimpbarrelorbarreltab(s)aroundtheconductor.Asaconsequence,theconductorsurfacesareplacedundercompressionbythecrimpterminalandareasofcontactareestablishedbetweentheconductorandthecrimpbarrel.Theseareasprovidethedesiredelectricalconnection.Areliablecrimpedconnectionisonethatiscapableofmaintainingthecontactbetweentheconductorandcrimpbarrelsothatastableelectricalconnectionismaintainedwhenitisexposedtotheconditionsitwasdesignedtoendureduringitsusefullife.Evaluationtestingisdesignedtoensurethataparticulardesigncrimpedconnectionsystemconsistingofconductorandcomponentandassociatedtoolingiscapableofachievingareliableelectricalandmechanicalconnection.Aftertheevaluationiscompleted,ifanychangeinthesystempartsismade,thesystemshouldbereevaluatedusingthesameprocedures.Aftercompletionoftheevaluationtest,thetensilepullstrengthresultsmaybeusedtodevelopacceptancerequirementstobeusedininspectionofsubsequentproductionlotsofcrimpedconnections.AnexampleofsuchanacceptancerequirementisshowninAppendixX1.Theagingtest,33daysexposureat118x00B0;C,hasbeenusedinthetelecommunicationsindustrytosimulate40yearsofserviceatamoderatelyelevatedtemperatureof50x00B0;C,anenvironmentthatcomponentsexperiencewithinlargebanksoftelephoneequipment.Thisenvironmentissimilartothatseeninawiderangeofelectronicsystemsoperatingindoorscontainingactivecomponentsthatdissipatepower.Thetestisdesignedtoreproducethestressrelaxationofcopperalloysinsuchserviceandhasbeenusedextensivelyinevaluatingwirewrapconnections.Italsoacceleratesotherthermallyactivatedprocessessuchasoxidationalthoughtheiraccelerationfactorsmaybedifferentfromthatofcopperstressrelaxation.Theagingtestacceleratesstressrelaxationprocessesandotherthermallyactivatedprocessesbutdoesnotaddresssomeotherpossiblehazardssuchascorrosion.Additionaltestingmaybeappropriateiftheintendedserviceenvironmentpresentssuchhazards.1.1Thistestmethodestablishestherequirementsforastandardizedmethodofevaluatingthequalityofcrimped-typeelectricalconnectionstosolidorstrandedconductors.Thistestmethodappliesto16-gaugeandsmallerdiametercopperwire,coatedoruncoated.1.2Thistestmethodisapplicabletoconnectionsystemsintendedforindooruse,orforuseinenvironmentallyprotectedenclosures.Additionaltestingmayberequiredtoassuresatisfactoryperformanceinapplicationswherehighhumidityorcorrosiveenvironment,orboth,maybepresent.1.3ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Nootherunitsofmeasurementareincludedinthisstandard.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.ItistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtobecomefamiliarwithallhazardsincludingthoseidentifiedintheappropriateMaterialSafetyDataSheet(MSDS)forthisproduct/materialasprovidedbythemanufacturer,toestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpractices,anddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
