【摘要】:ManytestmethodsincludingTestMethodsD882,D2838andF88requiretheuseofnarrowstripsofvaryinglength.Thequalityofthesamplepreparationdirectlyaffectstestresults.Thispracticedescribestwotechniquesforpreparingsampleswithstraight,clean,paralleledgeswithnovisibleimperfections.Note28212;Aftercutting,eachspecimenshouldbeexaminedvisuallytoinsuretheedgesareundamaged(freeofnicks).Onaperiodicbasisspecimenedgequalityshouldbeevaluatedbymicroscopicexamination.Todeterminewhencuttingbladesneedtobereplacedorsharpened,acontrolchartoftensilestrengthandpercentelongationatbreak(seeTestMethodD882)ofauniformmaterialmaybemaintained.Tensilestrengthandpercentelongationatbreakwilldecreaseasthequalityofspecimencuttingdecreases.1.1Thispracticecoversequipmentandtechniquesforcuttingfilmandsheetingspecimensfortesting.Thespecimensarenick-free,non-stretchedandcanberapidlyprepared.1.2ThevaluesgiveninSIunitsaretobeconsideredthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninbracketsareforinformationonly.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Note1ThereisnosimilarorequivalentISOstandard.
